Did you know that Pro Life Fitness Centre is run by Renfrewshire Sports Charity, a registered Scottish Charity? This means that all profits we make from our trading operations are given back to the local community, and don’t line the pockets of shareholders like other private gyms.
About Us
We’re a charity
The gym was set up as a charitable organisation in 2014 and since then we have given over £100K to local charities. As our membership has grown so have our donations and in the last year we have donated £50,502 to local good causes.
Primarily we support the 2 local hospices in the area – the St Vincent’s Hospice in Johnstone and the Accord Hospice in Paisley – but we also support young up-and-coming local sportspeople with sponsorship, and regularly donate to local foodbanks.
A Board of Trustees overlooks the running of the gym and makes sure things are run properly. Our Board is made up of a small group of people with an active interest in the gym and all of whom bring knowledge and experience. The Board ensures we take good decisions and donate our profits wisely, and we work hand in hand with Head of Operations for the Gym, Robert McEwan to make sure we offer one of the best facilities in Scotland.
As well as existing to give donations to charity, we also have a major interest in the advancement of the gym, knowing our members are the people who make donations possible. Ensuring Pro Life Fitness Centre stays in pole position is essential to our strategy and over the last 2 years we have undertaken a rolling programme of capital investment to improve to the facility. These investments account for £101,000 of investment:
- A major refurbishment of the reception area including a new structure, upgraded design and branding and new entry system which will significantly increase income and cut down mis-use of memberships, resulting in increases in membership income
- A major refresh of the spa was undertaken in 2023 which included a new state-of-the-art steam room plus refresh of the decoration of this area
- Upgrades to the ladies and gents changing rooms including ventilation and showers
- Essential upgrades to the car park
- A new and extremely well used functional area created in the upstairs area of the venue, complete with new equipment and mirrored area
- The purchase of Reformer Pilates equipment and the introduction of this to the class programme –
- Improvements to the creche including painting and new carpet plus an enhanced service 3 mornings per week to cope with increased demand
- Website refresh
